A live storytelling event for women in Bayside, Melbourne.
A place to share true stories of lived experiences, to speak and be witnessed, to listen and be entertained, and feel a deeper connection to our lives and each other.
This is an open invitation to share a true story
about something that happened to you,
spoken without notes,
within a time-limit of up to 10 minutes.
There's a theme to inspire, and all types of stories are welcome. Light and breezy, funny and uplifting, sad or unexpected, heavy and dark.
There's space for them all.
Very often in today’s world there isn’t acknowledgment for the things we’ve achieved or the road we’ve travelled. Sharing your story is a gift to the listeners, but also a gift to yourself. When we share our stories we validate our lives and who we are.
Where we’ve travelled.
Our history. Our humanity.
Story Night Themes
Each Story Night has a theme which is provided to inspire and help you find your story.
November Theme: JOY…
Radiate a glow as you bring us your story of joy in the world! Delight us with simple pleasures or unexpected moments that filled you with delight.
Maybe Joy is your aunt or a woman whose name doesn’t suit her. Tell us about the joy of a warm embrace, dance or memorable celebrations.
Perhaps there were times when there was no joy to be had, or you lived events that should have been joyful, but for you they were not.
Come and share your story of seeking out and finding joy, and ripple that joy out to us all!
The theme should inspire but not hold you back! If you have a story to share and it has no connection to the theme, you will be welcome to share it anyway.
Do I have to tell a story?
There's no requirement to tell a story, in fact, listeners are needed just as much as storytellers. Listeners have the important job of ‘holding’ storytellers as they speak.
If you would like to tell a story, simply ask to have your name added to the board upon arrival or reserve a place on the board by emailing me prior: karen@storynights.com.au
Due to the adult nature of the stories that may be shared, audience members are required to be 16 years of age or older.
